When teens share the Gospel, they witness God at work firsthand. So we must coordinate outreaches to put kids in that position. And we must constantly challenge and equip teens to share their faith with friends, classmates, teammates and family members.

In your youth ministry, equip kids to share the Gospel with the right balance of boldness, tact, love and wisdom. And model this brand of evangelism yourself. When we do this prayerfully and strategically, we start to ignite teens’ passion for God.

3. Set yourself on fire.

Finally, practice what you preach. John Wesley said when he preached, he set himself on fire and people came to watch him burn. May that be the way we preach. May that be the way we teach. And may that be the way we live!

If you want your teens on fire, it starts with you. So ask God daily to fill you with his Holy Spirit. Ask him to empower you to set the pace for a full-on, on-fire life and ministry.

I wrote Firestarter: Ignite Your Passion for God, a little book for teenagers. But I think every youth leader will get fired up to see true revival break out among young people. Check it out and see what you think.

Don’t wait for the book to ignite teens’ passion for God, though. Start praying today. Then send your teens out to evangelize—and catch fire—tomorrow!
